Multi-Family Recycling

Do you live in an apartment, condo or townhouse? Then recycling couldn't be simpler - 3 blue carts - and that's it!  Cardboard, magazines, yoghurt containers and shampoo bottles are just a few of the items you can recycle in your building's recycling carts. Take a look at the Blue Box Recycling list to find out what materials can be recycled and how to prepare them. Your building's Newspaper Cart holds newspaper and newspaper inserts only, your Mixed Paper Cart will take Mixed Paper (including clean pizza boxes), and the Mixed Containers Cart accepts #1, #2, #4 and #5 rigid plastic containers, glass bottles and metal cans. And if you're stumped for where to store your recyclables until you can get them down to the carts, scroll down this page for a few stylish and/or practical ideas.

3 Simple Steps to Blue Cart Recycling:

Step 1: Find a storage spot. Baskets or boxes work great in a central location. If space is tight, try one of our multi-family recycling tote bags (while supplies last - our inventory is very limited). Simply stop by our office at 148 East 2nd Street, North Vancouver (8:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays) to pick up your bag (1 per residential unit), or order one from our order page. If you want something more stylish or something stackable, try some of the ideas below (click on the photos to link to the North Shore retailers' websites):

Step 2: Recycle clean paper & other materials. More than 10% of our garbage is recyclable paper - that’s way too much! Help get it out of the garbage by recycling it in the Mixed Paper & Newspaper carts. Then recycle cans, bottles, yoghurt containers, and much more.

Step 3: Take it to the recycling carts. These are usually located near your building’s garbage dumpster. Don’t forget to flatten all boxes and plastic milk jugs to save space!
